Austin, Texas—Today, Chairman Ryan Guillen (D-Rio Grande City) announced a special hearing of the House Culture, Recreation, and Tourism Committee on September 3rd in Medina County. Members of the committee will be listening to invited testimony on the subject of the current CWD regulations on Texas deer ranchers.

The Texas Deer Association is pleased that the CRT committee will be reviewing the current rules put forth by Texas Parks & Wildlife on CWD-testing and movement qualification standards. TDA will provide testimony to inform the committee on the deep concerns of our industry in regards to the TPWD-enforced rules.

Though the testimony is invitation-only, we would like to encourage as many of our members to attend as possible, in order to show solidarity within the Texas deer industry. The meeting will be held at the South Texas Regional Training Center, 402 Carter Street in Hondo, beginning at 2pm.
