On a Mission in Mission, TX—TDA Raises Money for STAR at Regional Banquet

April 20, 2015

Once again, the members of the Texas Deer Association (TDA) showed up in force to support kids at a recent Sportsmen’s Night Out banquet.  This event, held earlier this month in Mission, brought camaraderie, auctions, and fun to the Rio Grande Valley—all to benefit the South Texas Agricultural Roundup (STAR)!

STAR was founded in 2003, and serves Hidalgo County 4-H and FFA youth.  An all-volunteer organization, STAR has raised more than $4 million to provide “a positive learning environment that builds leadership, life skills, and promotes and industry that is a very fabric of our daily lives… agriculture.”

More than 150 were in attendance at this event, as were several exhibitors and numerous FFA and 4-H volunteers who came to thank TDA for their efforts.  TDA is proud to continue our tradition of support for this fine youth organization through money raised at this event. A number of these regional banquets are held across the state every year to raise money for youth events and scholarships benefiting Texas students—including livestock shows, hunter education courses, and 4-H clubs.

The Texas Deer Association was founded in 1999, and today, our efforts to promote the future of Texas’ whitetail heritage are unparalleled.  TDA continues to lead the way as the largest organization in the state dedicated to protecting the rights of both the landowner and the hunter.  We are proud to be the unified voice for deer enthusiasts seeking to share ideas and methods to improve and protect our Texas whitetail heritage.
